Does what it says on the tin.

Askin for a friend, and its a genuine question especially setting WB.

Not taking the Michael, but surely just play until it looks good avoiding too much noise.

As always, excellent advice and I would not expect anything less than stellar work from your good self.

How would you go about White Balance?

Simple answer: WB = Daylight always for unfiltered astro.

Slight less simple answer: 'Daylight' depends on vendor/software and will vary, but will be a good starting point before fine-tuning. I find the Canon in-camera 'daylight' to be pretty good.

Looking at https://www.flickr.com/photos/the1lemming/52326161139/in/dateposted/

a gentle use of shadows (10%) and highlights (0%) seems enough for me. There will be some colour variation due to the long exposure. Nice picture.

Bit of a deep dive but well worth a read if you don't mind a lot of detail.

Thank you. 😀

However I'm not too sure about WB at night and what is best to use. For the image in this link I set the WB to around 4,000 Kelvin when editing in Lightroom.

However for the second image, I edited in Luminar Neo, and I don't have a Scooby what White Balance I used except for the number -21, which means fek-all, but compared side by side it looks less cartoony.
