Must admit this bit raised a wry smile:
"We are currently working with the owner to undertake an independent valuation of the goodwill, and once this has taken place we will be able to assess and submit an appropriate offer."
Their share offer closed a couple of weeks ago and was a fairly stunning success by any measure - as you say, success is still not guaranteed but they're in very good shape.
