Driving into Windermere from Ambleside a horse ran out of a long driveway and onto the road. The car in the other lane ran into it. Through my rear view mirror I could see the horse on the ground kicking. I couldn't stop to help because of the traffic behind me. It was a horrible thing to see and I was thinking about it all night. A few days later there was an article in the Westmoreland Gazette which said that the horse was fine after the accident. No one was hurt but the car was a bit dented. It went on to say that the car was driven by someone called Stabler and it was a Mitsubishi Colt!
