Royal mail customer service, am I doing something wrong?

For the last two days I've been trying to get through to someone to sort out a wayward parcel but despite trying from 7am to 8pm the wait times are stated as being 40 to 60 minutes. Am I missing something or do people really sit and pay to be on hold that long?

Nope, it takes that long 😞 45 mins wasted trying to find out why my parcel was in Orkney and not near Inverness!! I did get it albeit 5 days and a few ferry trips late.

I've checked the call cost and at 27p a minute on my landline that would be £11-16 just to talk to someone!  Grr

Sounds like you also need to spend some time queuing for BT customer service to get a better deal on your landline!

For an 0345 number? Should be the same cost as an 01 or 02 number (and included in your free minutes if you have a mobile phone)

Good call, yes it's free from my mobile, didn't know 03 numbers were, thanks

Still doesn't excuse RM for being that understaffed or not having an email or chat facility

I've worked for RM for over 15 years and have given up defending them.

They really don't care about your parcel.

In reply to Glyno:

Oh I was never under any illusion about the mail itself
