Interesting that now we will be allowed to do 60mph in road works, as it can be just as safe as lower speeds, AND many more people abide by this speed limit.....
This is because the slower limits held before were clearly unnecessary, and a lot of people got speeding points/fines just due to inattention in the middle of a long boring stretch. This and the tedium makes me say that the slower limit is likely to be more dangerous, due to the almost soporific nature of such slow passages through road works previously, and people losing their ability to concentrate on the road conditions as carefully as they would want.
A good decision by the highways people.
