I had a week in a cottage on Mull (Ross of Mull) and it was great, my old lurcher loved it.  Had a great time, ticked off golden eagles, sea eagles and a hen harrier too.  It was a pleasure to be sat out in the evening, with a glass of something, watching otters a hundred meters away, the silence only punctuated by oyster catchers and curlew.  On my last full day, I visited Iona, and was treated to dolphins in the channel between mull and Iona.  I feel so relaxed, a great week and batteries nicely recharged.  I cant recommend it enough, if you’ve not been, give it a go.

It’s a great place! Always feels nice and secluded.

The climbing is superb too… I’ve had some of my best trips there. Really diverse rock types. From sea cliff adventures at Kintra, to micro cragging and DWS on Erraid, to basalt pillars at Ulva. Bouldering is pretty good too…

Sounds great. Did you visit John Smith's grave on Iona? A spiritual island?

No, I didn’t.  I thought this was being quietly discouraged.

Glad you enjoyed your trip; Mull( and many more of the islands) are superb places, they just have a different feel to the mainland, but please keep quiet about it - everyone will go there!
