In reply to Kieran bowles:

Why do you need to know the length? Just put your reg details into any motor factor website and they'll tell you which one you need.

In reply to Oceanrower:

I have put my reg into euro car parts and it gives me 2 different lengths

In reply to Kieran bowles:

Buy both and send the wrong one back?

In reply to Kieran bowles:

normally this will be because of things like aircon with the longer one being so it has the extra length to go round the compressor pulley.

In reply to Kieran bowles:

Why don't you give yourself a length?

Vin number is sometimes more useful to suppliers like that. A couple of times I have actually been helped  by the chat/help people who are quite keen that you get the right part.

In reply to Tom V:

This being a climbing forum, I'd say buy the long one and if it ain't right, cut it and join it together with a double fisherman's.

In reply to mick taylor:

I thought at first that this was some arcane insult! Is it? Or is it an arcane way of saying "get some string and measure it"? Or BOTH?

I’d say safest option is to top rope it first. If they can change the belt clean on top rope then they’ll know if their ready for the lead.
