Last year I saw a short video of a complete half, though upside down to the usual, rainbow which was on the surface of the Firth of Forth. It was taken from the top of one of the towers of the Queensferry Crossing and the rainbow covered from one coast to the other.
The sun was behind the camera I reckon, as a shadow of the tower can be seen on the water, on an otherwise thick low cloud day where the rainbow appeared.
No idea the reason for that; I never found anything when I looked online at the time. The lady that took the video said it wasn’t that unusual viewing that from above and also said that a complete circle can occasionally be seen in some circumstances, half due to reflection.
