I'm just wondering if anyone has had lateral release surgery for patellar maltracking? If so was it a success and how long did it take to recover?
Struggling with 18 months of anterior knee pain which has resulted in swelling on the back of my knee and under the knee cap. Had a scan and they have found the patellar is maltracking and despite 7 months of intense physio it hasn't really helped. I've regained a little pain free flexion to 100 degrees but still can't kneel, cycle, deep squat or walk further than 500m without it swelling up. Climbing has become impossible.
I could get a lateral release but the surgeon has warned that it could make it worse and there is only about a 50%% chance of it getting better. Just wanted to hear anybody else's experience of the procedure.
