Daft question-walking in Spain

Hope this is the right forum? As a regular walker in the Uk, I’m comfortable with a map and compass, and more recently in our climbing trips to Spain, we’ll walk on our rest days, mostly from guidebooks (Cicerone,Rother). We do encounter along the way, apart from the PR-c signposts, painted flashes on rocks, a white stripe above yellow. Once in a while, we’ll come across the same colours, but painted as an ‘X’. So the daft question is- does an ‘X’ mean ‘not this way’?

Thanks for any input on this,

Stu

Yes the 'X' is to indicate exactly that.

In reply to stujamo:

Bring a shovel and start digging as the X marks the spot for buried treasure. Thought every knew that!

In reply to Mark Eddy: thanks Mark, I’ve just re-read the intro in your guide, and there it is! 😂👍🏻

In reply to RX-78: followed an ‘X’ last year 🙄 hence the daft question 😂

Easily done. We went climbing in the Pyrenees in the Dent D’Orlu valley and bought the local guidebook.

We specifically chose the routes with the multiple heart icon as we thought that meant they loved the route.

it actually signified heart attack meaning be wary of danger on the route… 😀

In reply to Wimlands: we found out the ‘awkward’ way 🙄
