Am I correct in thinking that walkers and climbers cannot use the funicular in the summer to gain access to the hill?

My family and I walked up Cairn Gorm a few years back, not long before the funicular shut, and we called in at the Ptarmigan on the way down, as my wife and children wanted to use the facilities - they had to be signed in and out as the operators did not let the hordes of passengers out onto the plateau for environmental and safety reasons.

TBH.. I'm not sure of the situation..
I remembered that before it was closed, there was a rule of not allowing climbers/walkers out at the top so rang this morning for verification..
Still only Skiers allowed out..

I get that you have to walk up.  But can you then enter at the top and get the train back down?

My old knees like that idea.

Thats exactly the way it used to work. We did it a few times. Have to watch that you can take the doggie into the station area and then down on the train, but not into the shop or the cafe.
