Hi all,

I was using my Sea to Summit ultra light insulated mat for some years now and I have been repairing tiny punctures for the last few trips. Each time i thought it is good to go and took it to a trip I found it leaking slowly, and my back on the ground in the middle of the night. Punctures are so small that bubbles dont even come out if not enough or wrong place is pressed. This might be due to the Nylon material aging?

anyway, I am thinking about a new mat with the following criteria:

weight: about 500g

R value: above 3

price: about 130 pounds

and I landed on 2 products:

RAB Ionosphere 5

Exped ultra 5r Mummy

ionospere is heavier by 100g but cheaper by 10 pounds, it has more gimmick too.

I wonder if anyone has used the Exped ultra 5r and can share some experience?

Also is there anything else that might worth a look too?

Many thanks!!

My sea to summit dot weld construction did exactly the same thing……..

I went for a thermarest neoair xtherm, but that is above your suggested price range and I haven’t had it long enough to comment on its longevity.
