Lion ridge conditions?

I've been hoping to climb the lion ridge in the next week. Can anyone report on conditions?

I've been in Chamonix the past 2 weeks and still seeing snowy/mixed conditions on the ridge scrambles around 3500m.  This definitely makes things harder than if they were dry.

Are you aware the carrel hut is closed all summer for reconstruction (winter room too)? 

Apparently the bivying options are poor but should be possible to do the route in a longer day from the abruzzi if keen

Don't know but you could try calling or e-mailing the local Guide office, usually they'll give an idea of conditions even if you're not looking to use them -

No, but it’s something I’ve done in the past in Switzerland. Has your experience differed?
