Hello,

Does anyone know of a large flat map (roughly the size of a flat OS or IGN map) that covers the whole of the Alps?

Cheers,

Tom

I’ve got an old one published by Kümmerly+Frey at 1:750 000. I must have had it 20 years so no idea if it’s still available.

It does seem to be oddly difficulty to find ones that aren't panorama perspectives or kitschy relief models. I bought this for my office wall recently, but it's a satellite photo composite rather than an actual map:

Thank you. Doesn’t have peak/place names on it?

Found one:

https://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?isbn=3-259-01710-0

It has shading for relief and names some peaks ( though not many at that scale).

No names, just the picture

Look on Globetrotter.de or Stanfords.  If such a thing exists they'll have it. Globetrotter won't send out of Germany, but you'll be able to find out what it's called and get it elsewhere.

What's your budget? I found this:

Expensive, in German, not very aesthetically pleasing cartography (to my eye at least) but BIG

I know I've seen a Swiss map of the whole Alpine arc, might have been this https://shop.swisstopo.admin.ch/en/maps/leisure-and-thematic-maps/relief-ma...

Some of the older Alpine books e.g. The Alps in History and Nature have splendid folded ones included. Not quite OS size but very.detailed.

What do you want it for? If it's too lay it out on your dining table and plan a holiday, then something like this is good: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpen-Alps-Alpi-Alpes-500/dp/3854911866/ref=mp_s_a...

This one one may do job, though it's more a road map with names peaks and features. https://cordee.co.uk/RK0047 . I have found the admin staff at Cordee v helpful so call them to send or upload a sample of the "look inside" so you can see if the mountain detail is what your looking for (telephone number to right). Their website is not very mobile friendly. The description mentions shading by height.

Tom, I have a National Geographic map called The Alps which I have found excellent for planning, has main peaks and good detail.
