Hi,

Recently booked a holiday to the alps to do some mixed climbing at the tail-end of April and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of good mixed climbs that may be in condition at the time at around D/D+ grade.

Was eyeing up the Whymper Couloir as it seemed like it would be in condition, as well as Lagarde Couloir on Les Droites, but was wondering if there were any other suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

Sam

Just posted today 😉

But I don't think you need to or should decide yet. Soon before you go you can check what people have been doing and the Chamoniarde reports. Based on recent years the end of April could be anything from deep fresh powder to a summer heatwave.

The Lagarde is above my pay grade but the best time to climb the Whymper is April/May.  You would need skis to get to the bottom.  I have skinned up there a few times.  Its quite steep below the hut so I think might you might struggle with snow shoes.
