A documentary, that is interesting, I shall seek it out. The people who told me about the film said there is a lot of poetic license, but the underlying story is true.

Great story. There's also a half hour podcast on BBC Sounds - World Service - Outlook. There's a ton of other great stuff on this new to me documentary programme, like the Frenchman who sailed around the World with a chicken.

I can highly recommend Witness History, is a very short one. The one about when Sweden moved from driving on the left to the right was rather good.

No, strangely. I guess the guy maybe set off thinking regular eggs and more, but the chicken seemed to become ever more useful in preventing the solo yachty from going mad:
