I haven’t seen anything on UKC noting that Audrey Salkeld died a couple of weeks ago, so here is Ed Douglas’s obituary:

Many of us will have been aware of Audrey’s various contributions to climbing literature and culture but I certainly wasn’t aware of their huge extent. An extraordinary woman. 

Thanks for that Bob... a superb obit from Ed for a true great of mountaineering history and literature, and an amazing role model for women in so many ways.

What sad news. I got to know Audrey quite well over the years in connection with various mountain literature events, and she was a great help when I was compiling the 25th anniversary photographic exhibition (called ’The Crux’) at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival. Her passing will leave a huge hole at the centre of the world of British mountain literature.
