Part of the main car park used for Burbage North, West, and Bridge is to be used for storage of stone during Feb and March 2023.
Dates have not been confirmed, but will between 21/02/23 and 31/03/2023.
The NW corner of the carpark will be used for storage by the “Moors for the Future Partnership” (MFFP), this will mean a reduced number of vehicle spaces for a period. The material is to be used among other things for the creation of 'stone dams' to block erosion gullies in areas of peat moorland.
In the words of MFFP - "The car park will be closed during material deliveries, likely over 1 or 2 days, and then remain partially closed where the stone is stockpiled until it is transported on to the moor, hopefully within 3 days. The car park will then be fully closed whilst the transport (by helicopter) of materials is underway- this is envisaged to be only 2 days, but exact timing and duration of this is weather dependent. The works won’t commence until after the Sheffield half term, so looking to commence from 20th February. We hope to undertake the work midweek- to minimise impact of the car park closure.
So in summary- the car park closure will be for short duration and managed to minimise impact as far as possible, and isn’t related to the PDNPA proposed introduction of charging."
