Love it all - trad, winter, Alpine, dry tooling, sport, even a bit of bouldering once in a blue moon. I love adventurous and committing climbing - abseiling into scary sea cliffs, pulling up on frozen blobs in winter, going off route in the Alps... Anything except offwidths!!!It all started with an Alpine climbing course back in 2003, followed by trad climbing a couple of years later. Now I’m a Trainee British Mountain Guide. I've passed the entrance exams, so now I’m on the training scheme itself, preparing for the summer rock assessment in September. It’s been a bit of a journey over the past 15 years but the really hard work is just beginning...
Keen on winter climbing and have done a fair bit in Scotland and Wales. Prefer mixed as I find it more interesting but enjoy ice as well and have been to Cogne, Kandersteg and Rjukan.
Often found at dank dry tooling crags when there's no winter climbing to be had, both as something fun to do and as training for the real stuff.
Slowly working through a long wishlist of big Alpine routes. Got to do them before they all fall down!
Have done a reasonable amount of ski touring, including the classic Cham - Zermatt Haute Route and the less well known but really enjoyable Vanoise Chicken, as well as various other tours.
Tax adviser and chartered accountant (for the time being) - it can be interesting at times (yeah, right!).
Russian but have been living in the UK for over 20 years.
