A road biking route linking the historic Bavarian cities of Nürnberg (Nuremberg) and Augsburg.
This route came from a sponsored bike ride in May 2011, and constituted the first day of two (the second went from Augsburg to Munich). The route starts at the castle in the middle of Nürnberg's old town, and takes the rider all the way to the old town of Augsburg. The route itself is a good exhibition of the varied and beautiful different sides of the Bavarian landscape, with the section Nürnberg-Weißenburg being typical Middle Franconian pastoral lands, Weißenburg-The Danube being the hilly but beautiful limestone valley system of the Altmühltal, and the section from the Danube to Augsburg being typical Danubian plains. From Augsburg, it is even possible to see the Alps, on a clear day.
