Seasonal Restrictions
Dates: 1 March to 1 August
Reason: Nesting Birds
The nesting restriction (1st Mar - 1st Aug) includes the W face of Flimston Ridge, Cauldron, and the Green Bridge of Wales. The Elegug stacks themselves are restricted from March 1st to August 15th to protect Kittewakes as well as Auks.
Additionally, the PCNPA have requested climbers avoid disturbing the breeding grey seal colonies on the shoreline of Strata Walls, Stack Rocks, Stack Rocks Head, Linney Head, and Hobbyhorse Bay from mid-Aug until mid-Oct. If seals are present at this time (they are usually pupping on the beaches) then please avoid abseing/climbing in within 100m of them. The presence of climbers close to pups can prevent mothers from coming in to feed the pups which can lead to the death of the pup if disturbance is prolonged.
Climbs the white crack up centre of the white pillar , through the big roof before moving right around the arete up black rib into shallow black flake to the top.
Between Arettica and Nothing Gained.
Start from ledge above high water line.
Step off left side of ledge. Climb up right hand side of big blocks. Climb the wall above passing a ramp on left hand side that slopes up to the left. Traverse left with feet on the ramp until below the crack. Climb cracks into big black bosses and the white crystal crack above, until traversing pockets up and left into a flake and horn below big roof. (Arettica s top thread just left). Place good cam in pocket over lip of roof, and power through roof to get feet above . Thin moves right lead to cracks and arete. Move up arete and step right into black rib, climb up rib into black shallow flake to top.
