Hill features

Mentioned in the new Dartmoor guide, there is fun to had here albeit of a limited nature. This is a beautiful loaction with views of Bench Tor on the other side of the valley and the possibilty of glimpsing some naked middle aged swimmers at Sharrah Pool.

Routes listed may well have been climbed before, but nothing logged. Apologies to whoever added three climbs that I have deleted as there was no way to work out where these were. The main tor is mainly spread out scrambling that is generally low in height (great for all you sit-start enthusiasts) with a few unispiring lines not worthy of logging. A few hundred yards to the southeast is a larger collection of boulders up to 3-4m in height where there is more fun to be had and where the listed routes are located.

As a word to any wanting to visit Bel Tor, all gates to it are labeled as private so don't expect to be able to access it.

Summit of this hill

This summit is listed in Dartmoor Tors hill lists.

This summit has been climbed in 3 logbooks.

Approach notes

Park at the Bel Tor carpark and head south to the clearly visible Mel Tor. Stay on the path and avoid heading up to the main tor for quicker access to the boulders listed here. The sharks fin boulder is clearly visible from the path.
