The bouldering at Anston Stones Wood all takes place on land owned by Anston Parish Council. To preserve the good relationship that climbers have with the Parish Council, The British Mountaineering Council have agreed the following guidelines which we ask all climbers to adhere to:

  • Stick to existing footpaths and firm ground, avoid trampling on vegetation
  • Pick up any litter you come across
  • Stay off the railway line
  • Climb only on areas that have already been developed (i.e. Woody’s Rock, the Wave area, Rocky Valley, Hidden Wall, Apprentice Wall, Dukes Wall, Through Post, and Frodo buttress.)

In addition to the above, avoid topping out where possible.

βeta: Saying it finishes as for The Vision is a bit bizarre really considering that for Vision you get the slopey lip edge with your left, whereas on this you get it with your right. If you then climb and finish directly up then it's all good in my opinion. However given the proximity of everything else, the grade will depend on how strict you are; it's much, much harder (for me) eliminating the ledges out left (which are easily in reach for me) for feet, but very logical to use them and feels about right for 7A/+ this way. Without them forces an absolutely nails deadpoint off a deep right lock off, which on the link felt more like 7B/+ to me and would be very hard from the sit.

βeta: Worth mentioning, will also add to the sit start when I eventually tick it, that this line finishes up The Vision. It doesn't use any of the crimps/pockets out left that are used on the undercut 6B problem.
