Hill features
An active volcano. Steaming fumaroles and hot springs can be seen to the north from the summit. An ascent of the summit can be combined with a circuit of the crater or a multi-day traverse to the north. Refugio has 14 beds, a table, compost toilet and log burner.

Drive to parking (also campsite). The route to the hut is on steep, marked jungle trail. The hut is at the tree line, and from there the route to the summit is on open ground and across lava fields. The detail of contours on the military maps used was unreliable due to changes caused by volcanic eruptions.
