Dates: 1 March to 30 June
Reason: Nesting Birds
Kestrels nest on the crag but no formal restriction is in place as they are not Schedule 1 (legally protected) or locally rare birds. If they are in residence on the crag, please climb past their nest site as quickly as possible taking care not to cause any damage and limit disturbance.
Rockfax Description
The long wide rib is a pleasant pitch. Start at the base of the rib. Climb easily up a crack to a ledge and a 2m high finger of rock. Step left from this onto the rib and follow it to some fingery pulls that gain a ledge below a short overhanging crack. Put some gear in the crack, then move right onto the wall which leads to the top. The crack can be climbed direct at 4c. © Rockfax
UKC Logbook Description
So named because some paratroopers were dicing with death nearby when the route was put up.

βeta: BETA ALERT. The crux section is very bold if you don't find the solitary piece of gear that protects it. When standing on the ledge atop the quartz blob, there is a tiny vertical slot about chest height which won't take gear. Immediately below it, and hard to spot, you can get a good Wallnut 5 lying flat on the rock (i.e. at 90 deg to ordinary position). Otherwise you're probably 15ft above your last runner. | ||
