Highly fractured white quartzite on the mountain provides a variety of routes that may be led or toproped (with toproping being the more popular option).
Take I-270 to exit 22 and get on MD 109 west toward Comus. Turn right on Comus Road and continue to the entrance to Sugarloaf Mountain (or stay Comus Road and turn right onto the intersection with Mt Ephraim Rd for White Rocks).
The most popular climbing areas are located along the green-blazed trail, whose trailhead is near the West View parking lot. The White Rocks area, accessible from the blue-blazed trail, is located further down Mount Ephraim Road.
The area is free to enter, but a donation box is available.
This is a privately owned recreation area, and continued access is contingent upon climbers maintaining a good safety record and following all regulations. These include exiting the park before dark.
