A small crag with many quality routes and worth a visit if you want a change of venue from nearby Etxauri. There is enough here to satisfy climbers operating in the 6th, 7th or 8th grades.
The routes tend to have more features and be steeper than at Etxauri and are generally on positive holds, pockets and tufas. Some of the popular routes are unfortunately becoming polished.
Depending on the water level in the reservoir there are two approaches:
Approach from above - Drive past Nagore and turn right on the NA-2040. Just before the tunnel take the concrete track to the right. It soon turns into a good dirt track. Follow it, ignoring any turnoffs until you get to a y-junction (3km from the tunnel turn off). Large vans should park here. 100m further on the right y-fork is a metal gate and smaller vehicles can drive further down to park by an information board. The path to the crag starts by the information board. Approach time: 30mins from the top parking or 20mins from the information board.
Approach from below - Park by the barriers on either side of the dam. Walk to the dam and pick up a track below on the far side that goes round the bluff. Follow this and then up a ramp to the bottom of the crag on your left. Approach time: 30mins mostly level but a very boring trudge.
Bird banned from 1st Dec till sometime in the Summer due to nesting vultures. A red tag is placed on the first bolt of every route when the ban is in place.
