βeta: The normal route up is via Velicky Zlab (Velicky Gully) and descent towards Batizovske Pleso (tarn) via Batizovsky Gully. The ascent starts at Sliezky Dom mountain hotel and requires about a 1000 m ascent (not 500 as in the description of the crag) Generally easy scrambling terrain but care needed a fall could easily be fatal. There is plenty bolts to use for protection in the exposed sections, otherwise moving together is perfectly fine on most of it. There were a lot of people there, perhaps about 50 as September is prime season. Helmet is a must as there is loose rock and the risk of someone knocking rocks on you on the descent is certainly there (especially when so busy). The mountain is beautiful though and well worth a visit. As mentioned in the crag description, you either need an accredited mountain guide with you or be a member of a UIAA acknowledged climbing club, such as the BMC. | βeta? | |
