Crag features
Emsworthy Rocks has long been the younger sibling of Saddle Tor, but no more! Long known of but rarely fully explored there is a large number of moderate grade level circuits to explore. The established lines cover but a fraction of the potential at this crag. The eastern section (closer to Lowman and Haytor) is comprised of more stand alone blocks whereas the western end typically forms longer walls of less prominence. The whole crag is strewn across a ridge which runs east to west with views of all the surrounding tors.
Approach notes
Emsworthy Rocks is best approached from either the of two car parks, South Saddle Tor or North Saddle Tor (Best option). It can be reached from farther away if those options are full up but it will add to the walk-in considerably.
The walk-in is straight forward, from North Saddle Tor walk directly up the ranger access track which heads initially NW but curves to head more Northward, this will take you to the relatively untouched eastern end of the crag. The established blocks are in the middle section of the crag and the Lonely Traverse makes a good waypoint.
Walking in from South Saddle Tor is much the same except you have to walk directly over Saddle Tor first at which point the crag becomes easily visible to the North behind Saddle Tor.
