This is the north side of the gap which can be ascended (or descended) as part of the ridge traverse. From the gap climb a little diagonal chimney leftwards to an awkward slab. Beyond the slab climb straight up an obvious grassy fault and enter a cleft on the top right splitting the enormous summit block. Climb the cleft to the top.

βeta: The side route is the hillwalkers route but is an awkward scramble at the end. It can be found by backtracking from the gap to where a path a path drops down the North side. The gap itself is the diff route and the first recorded rock climb on Arran. This was a popular victorian challenge and a photo does exist of victorian lady in ankle length attire descending.
