History

Laqluoq has been a part of the first sports climbing development phases in Lebanon, back in the late 1990's and early 2000's with the endeavour of the French army. It is located nearby the ski slopes of Laqlouq; hence it could be accessed for climbing on ski during a sunny day.

It was developed as a training ground for the Lebanese army mountain regimen similar to its neighbouring crag Chatine. Over the years many developers have added routes to the Mat'quobe sector, and it still offers more potential for further development.

Currently, it is a destination for beginners since it is a family friendly cliff with easy grades and only 1 intermediate route.

Approach

Park your car at the location in the map and continue on foot up the dirt road. The ski lifts will be parallel on your left-side. Walk approximately 300m and you should arrive at the first climbing site. The further sectors are just further along the rock outcrop.

Climbing

Vertical, slab and slightly overhanging rock.

Conditions

Sunny sector at around 1700m. Good for spring, summer and autumn climbing.
