Enjoying a chilled dws spot in South devon © trystan
A narrow south west facing zawn (consider winds) with a south east facing dws cliff. Rock is generally sound although does look a little snappy so take care. Can be climbed at all states of tide as zawn is deep although does get shallower closer inland you come. Best climbed at mid tide for ease of access by traverse and for maximizing climbable lines although there are a few places which can be down climbed. Potential for some more lines on a high tide further in the zawn (closer to the land) as there is a fin of rock that pokes out before the arete on a low/mid tide.
Quickest route is to park at Start Point car park(paid parking) and follow signs to Mattiscombe Sands. Before descending to beach head east on coast path for a few minutes. Zawn is obvious and sits inline with rocky ridge.
Scramble over a gap and up onto the large block which makes up the dws venue.
