Crag features

A number of buttresses on the rim of Deep Dale gorge.

Approach notes

Drive to Cotherstone and take the B Road towards Bowes.

Watch out for the turning towards Larington. Take this and follow the road to a slight bend to the left. At this point a public bridalway goes off to the right. Cross the cattle grid and follow this across the field. Drop down and take the right fork bank up the bank. Pass the field and reach a further cattle grid with Crag Pond visible to the right. Keep following the track until the public path veers off to the left. Take this where you soon reach the Roof Buttress. The  remaining buttresses are along the edge heading down into Deep Dale.

Approx 12 minutes.

An alternative is to take the public footpath over Crag Hill to reach Crag Pond.

Access Advice

Located next to a public footpath. Be discrete.
