A delightful crag that offers tidal adventures without the exposure that is on offer at the likes of South Stack or Rhoscolyn.
Some of the rock is dubious and will clean up with the passage of time and traffic.
Some thought required when building belays, but placements and anchors are there to be found.
The strange concrete structures found alond the high tide line are called Dolos (plural: dolosse) .They where invented in 1963 and designed as such to offer a form of protection against coastal erosion.
Parking at the bottom for access to Penmaen Head, follow the path past Trench Wall and over Rainbow Bridge. Left and down to the beachfront leads you to the bouldering and West Buttress. Turning right towards Abergele there is a gravel area on the left. An old slipway leads from here down to the Eastern Buttress.
Alternative parking is on the sea front at Old Colwyn and walk along the coastal path/cycle way towards Abergele. about a 15mins stroll
