Crag features
An amazingly varied cliff with pockets, tufas, pebbles and scollops.
Set in a stunning environment and has shade all day.
A mix of conglomerate and limestone with generally long endurance pitches. 80 m rope essential.
There isn’t a guidebook currently.... bit of a secret crag. Info from a rudimenatary topo, word of mouth & locals we met at cliff.
Routes can be identified somewhat by moving R or left from the obvious ladder start of “Fathers” (half way up crag).
Other reference points for routes are the blunt orange tufa start of La Puerta del Cierzo...3/4 of the way up the slope, and the collection of short routes 1/4 of the way up slope.
Some routes, particularly R and downhill of ‘fathers’have plaques at the base with route names.
Approach notes
From Huesca head north to San Julian de Banzo. Follow the road around the village and take a right turn up a dirt track signposted San Martin. The parking appears just after a large farm shed on left.
From here follow the obvious trail north towards the dry river bed. Pass over this on a well marked trail and drop down into the dry river bed. Follow this passing the occasional sign for San Martin Vald’ Oncera. After 20 mins walking the path/dry river bed starts to climb and soon levels. The rock walls narrow and the crag appears on the right. Take care on the approach up the side of the crag...the ground is awkward and steep. The routes are listed L to right starting at the top of the crag.
