Crag features

The dam just below the toll road forms good ice on it west and east sides. It is well sheltered below the high dam wall. With absiel access means top ropes can be se. Easiest way out is WI 3+

Approach notes

Park at the top of the dam and then either hop the fence and abseil in, or walk around to the east, following the steps. Beware of the ice in the gorge at the bottom as it could be thin.

Access Advice

In 2024 there are plenty of groups use here, including  guided parties. There are no signs directly saying it is forbidden to climb. Its seems it is not encouraged  but tolerated as long as you heed the warnings of the risk.

As of today 16 March 23 new notices have been erected at the dam warning of the dangers of climbing here. If the power station stops generating excess water can flow over the dam and over climbers, no prior notice will be given. There is also a security camera which will alert the power company and someone will come and tell you not to climb, this happened to us today !
