A superb and wild area with an especially fine set of long multi-pitch sport routes on the stunning Roca dels Arcs. The shorter multi-pitchers on Amatista are worth a look and the single pitch sport climbs on La Cupula are a good place to pass a few hours. The cliffs generally face south and dry quickly but they are exposed to the worst of the weather and it can get windy here both on the faces and in the gorge.

From Artesa de Segra follow the L-512 northeast for 3.5km then turn left onto the LP-9132. Follow this for 12km to the village of Vilanova de Meia. At the entrance to the village branch right and follow the narrow bumpy road that weaves up towards the gorge. There is limited parking on the roadside opposite the right-hand end of the Roca dels Arcs close to the 6km marker post and all the cliffs are approached from here.
In the Lleida climbs 2010 guide some of the lines on the topo on the La cupula area are a bit out, Vicios Ancestrales is about right and easy to spot so work back from that Marti999 - 27/Apr/11 |
