First ascent Joe G 'manning Up'! on Professor Mary Muffin's Arete © joe gall/Hughsie
WARNING..VERY LARGE COFFIN LID FLAKE MIDDLE OF THE MAIN WALL TWO THIRDS OF THE WAY UP. WILL UPLOAD PIC BUT YOU CAN'T MISS IT Otherwise this is a brilliant little gem of a crag. The view from the belay makes it obvious that you're on the correct crag ! ie you can't miss the hotel as you look back out over the loch. As there are no pics I "think" we did (yellow edge) certainly felt about hard V Diff. I'll add some picks for clarity. Good wee route between the main slab left arete and an obvious left corner. Few obvious loose blocks and the schist didn't have a lot of friction so a good onsight warm up. Next we did the left arete ground up , prob about HS 4a or 4b. This is such an obvious line it must be one of the named routes? but the route names don't mention arete so will check guidebook for description. If it's "new" then we'll name it " Professor Muffins's Arete" and suggest it as HS 4a. Again we'll upload some pics for clarity. Both routes tonight lead by Joe Gallacher , seconded by John Hughes. Will defo revisit Ullapool and this crack for a couple of solid days climbing. joe gallacher - 04/Aug/12 |
