Rockfax Description
II, 700m, 3 - 4 hours. A little route which, when combined with a descent of the Normal Route, gives an excellent day of low-grade alpinism in a fantastic setting. Pick the best (snowiest) way through the moraine and climb the long 20 - 30 degree snow slope leading towards the Col des Chasseurs. Just before reaching the col, branch off leftwards through easy ground to reach the Northwest Ridge. A wide, snowy ridge leads to the foot of the rock step, which is enjoyable but never difficult (roughly 3b). After this, follow the exposed but generally straightforward snowy ridge to the top of the Pain de Sucre. © Rockfax
