Call and speak to Pete re access. Built in a new build project.
Approx 6m high. Some routes marked but not officially graded, as it's just what people come up with. [Ed Hill 11/99].
Not that big, but constantly expanding & changing. Worth a visit, but only if you're in the area or local for training (eg circuits). But it is still a laugh.
As for atmosphere - as always it can be intimidating and a bit lonely if you're on your own. You just need to talk to people - they're not that scary. [Ed Hill 11/99]
They have added a good boudering section recently. Well padded flooring. Both this and the wall are fun, but not very high. [Neil Fairbrother 2/04]
"The only wall near Maidenhead or Reading. Despite its name, it is open to the public." [Tom Dixon, 04/00]
As previously stated it can have a fairly intimidating atmosphere when you first get there but the guys who run it are friendly enough once you start to chat, the bouldering area is better than the wall in my opinion, though others may disagree.. Its a cave like area with plenty to challenge all if you limit yourself. Admitantly it can take a couple of climbs on the same face to feel like a tiring climb but with plenty of features you can again always limit yourself and increase the difficulty..

Hi,
not sure what happened - I posted an update about the Bourne End wall a few weeks a go and since then I've had a couple of calls from folk wanting to know about the wall. Whilst I'm happy to oblige, I'm not the contact for Bourne End wall - peter and Wendy that run it are. I'm just a punter!
Can you please replace my contact details with those of the wall - I'm sure they'd appreciate it!
Cheers
Neil

A very small wall, but yet still manages to keep you interested with the often changing of routes. The main section been only 5 meters high (more of an extended bouldering wall) has two overhangs, a five metre wide feature wall(all the rest is made with plywood except one of the overhangs) and a couple of other ropes.
The bouldering wall a good extension to the original wall has some teasing problems with an interesting cavelike structure.
Bad points: The ropes have double figure of eight knots already tied in(a pain to undo).
The wall is nothing special but a good training wall when nothing else is close by.
