OI NEWS: Nick Brown and Greenpeace share a platform at ISPO

Nick Brown, the founder of Nikwax, 4 kbISPO – the Munich-based outdoor and snowsports trade fair – saw Nikwax support Greenpeace in their quest to detox the outdoors.  This ISPO Nikwax invited key industry influencers and media to a presentation given by Nick Brown that described the chemistry and risks behind PFC water-repellents, and the differences and similarities between C6 and C8 PFC. Nikwax also invited special guest Greenpeace who explained progress in their detox campaign, which draws attention to PFC pollution, and other pollutants used in the manufacture of outdoor gear.

This was quite an interesting article and I wasn't really aware of this kind of stuff. Is there any general category of product PFC's are used in? e.g. coats or mostly boots or what?

Just had the following message back from Nikwax:

"Traditionally any fabrics that require water-repellency (including boots, outer clothing, equipment such as rucksacks and tents, etc.) have used a PFC treatment, it’s so wide spread that there isn’t one category that uses it more than the other".
