NEWS: Good Wilton News From The BMC

In September United Utilites, owner of the popular Wilton Quarries near Bolton, Lancashire put this popular climbing area up for sale. Climbers were worried that access would be lost. However, working with Bolton shooting club, the BMC are near to a solution that will benefit all recreational users of this area.

Guy Keating, BMC Access & Conservation Officer, has been working hard on this for all of us and reports:

Let's just say the BMC won't have to be nationalised.

Great news! Thanks to all involved for their hard work on our behalf. They might seem a bit green on first aquaintance but there is amazing climbing in all of them and it would have been a tragedy to lose access. Thanks again.

I was told this afternoon, unofficially and off the record, that it was a done deal.

It might be cheaper to just choose a route and clean it.
