I started climbing age 14, indoors at The Vertex in Surrey.
Since then got into most styles; trad, sport, scrambling, Scottish winter, alpine, one Himalayan trip. Never been much of a boulderer though.
At heart I'm a mountaineer, the summits the prize. Really enjoy link ups and journeys through the mountains.
In the past few years I've gotten into mountain and fell running, I'm working on the uphill stamina but love racing back down.
I do an alpine trip and a couple of Scottish trips each year. Then shorter trips to crags wherever i can fit them in.
Its great being in Bristol and able to go and do a route after work, even if it means topping out by head torch, then down to the harbour for beer and chips.
Steadily trying to advance my grade, not the be all and end all though. Memorable days don't have to be close to your limit.
Recently completed Mountain Instructor Award training at plas y brenin and I'm hoping to be qualified within 1.5-2 years.
Really enjoy helping people progress and build confidence to go on their own adventures.
