What You Have To Do?

Film or have filmed a short climbing or mountaineering clip, it could be of your mate leading or even a short piece acted by a whole troupe of climbers, the brief is wide open, it could be a clip of beautiful mountain scene with an environmental theme, the ascent of a boulder problem, a fall, or a funny sketch. It's up to you, but it must be your own work.

Abraham Ferraro of Rensselaer, NY

"The Stationary Climber is a vertical climbing track that rotates as I climb it, which rotates a drawing table on its axis in circles. As I climb the track, a drawing jig mirrors my up and down movements on the rotating drawing surface. Contained within the drawing jig is a marker, which is linked via cables to both my arms, so as I extend either arm it causes the marker to move.

Through real sweat, my performance / installation work details the struggles, trials, and tribulations that artists undergo to create Art. The Stationary Climber is a Sisypean tragedy for artists (Sisyphus was the mythical man that was punished by the gods to push a giant boulder up a mountain for all eternity only to watch it roll back down again)."

A system which turns meaningful activity into pointless, unintelligible gibberish? What a splendid metaphor for almost all modern art.
