There is something profound about the footprints passing the solid permanence of the post and its fleeting counterpart. A metaphor of time flowing inexorably onwards, the fragility of our lives laid bare by its indifferent and relentless stream. We are all icy shadows of fence posts, doomed to disappear when the winter of our days is done.

You're so right Lankyman. Remember though that those posts will wither and fall eventually, just like the ice and us. I wonder if the hills are counting down the days.

Nothing is counting anything. Just a meaningless dance of quantum fields. Or whatever. Nice photo anyway.

Ooh, love a fence post and this is a cracking image. Nice spot.
