1991 I think but very much 80's gear (and some older 'handmedown' stuff) on our limited budgets.

We managed to finish the route in a day but missed the last gondola by 20 mins. As a result an ‘enjoyable’ night was spent in the Midi station in a room next to the boiler plant. Trying to sleep on top of in coiled ropes with the plant machinery going was impossible although we didn’t have to put up with -10 temps!

Great shot, a reminder to me of many bad bivis - the expression on his face, lying back on the snow with little protection from the cold, gear scattered everywhere. Clearly in for a bad night. Commiserations and hope you were OK the next morning
