Exactly what Colin said. I need to get there!

When I was there in May the spring was late resulting in most of Iceland still being "closed" (i.e. the roads had not yet been repaired after winter). Willing to venture out independently I did experience a very quiet and wild Iceland but I was told that Iceland has now become very popular in the summer months making for a less "wild" experience. The further you can get away from Reykjavik the better.

Thanks for the comment Phil. I think I'm lacking a figure...photos with figures in always do much better. I guess it's the sense of being there.
