I thought I'd save this one for the summer; to remind everyone what a winter it was. This was the first day we managed to get out after the big snow, we got the car to just past Ringinglow, and waded through snow to Burbage and then here. Two minutes later we jumped off the top of the buttress into the drift.

No, don't want to be reminded of winter, its on its way back now.

Very nice Dan but, dont need to be reminded of Winter either, it`s like wishing the Summer away ! 5*

I love the photo. I'm still enjoying the summer and don't mind being reminded of the winter, as pictures like this remind how good winter can be.

Yes, Sepia suits this image. Lovely.

Love the sepia effect and the detail in the foreground that draws you into the photo, lovely stuff.

Thanks all, really glad you like the sepia.
I do like the summer - I'm off to Pembroke tomorrow, but I still look forward to getting my hands on some cold grippy grit again.

Deep Snow Soloing? New niche climbing if your hands can stand the pain :)

Well done Dan... good work.

what's that thing in the foreground? looks like a massive set of weights!
Michael Gordon - 11/Sep/10
Nice shot but I appear to be getting banding in the sky for some reason.
Garbhanach - 12/Sep/10
They are millstones in the foreground, you find them abandoned at almost every gritstone crag. No banding on my screen (although I found that older versions of firefox degraded images a bit).
Dan Arkle - 13/Sep/10
Cheers but I have the Firefox 3.6.9 which is up to date, just did a check on my own photos and it is appearing in the skies there too, do not appear to have the option of colour management now either Firefox just comes up with integer 2, baffled.
Garbhanach - 14/Sep/10
Solved changed colour display on monitor back to 32 bit as it had changed to 16bit.

I love it! But I am going to create a conspiracy theory that you simply photoshopped the snow onto this photo
