Amazing shot - Congratulations (i love the red glow to the left)
Tom_Harding - 04/Jan/10
Thanks very much Tom, I think the the glow is light pollution from Bridge Of Orchy/Tyndrum/Crianlarich, its frightening how little light is needed to have that effect. It was an amazing night and sp peaceful, albeit a bit nippy!(-12c).Cheers,Sean.

How long was the exposure? Enough to make the stars oval!
Rog Wilko - 04/Jan/10
Great photo, isnt the hill on the right Beinn Mhic Chasgaig?
Mike-W-99 - 04/Jan/10
Hi Mike, thanks, yes the hill on the right is Beinn Mhic Chasgaig, I'll add it to the caption(if I can do that...?)
Rog: The exposure was one minute so the stars are trailing a little bit, I preferred this to the 4 minute exposure, hope this helps.Cheers.

One where I did not have to deliberate on a 4 or a 5 mark. Cracking Picture that should sell.

A truly great pic.... I can't think of anything else to write.
Highball_Mike - 10/Jan/10
I'd give it a 6 if I could! Gorgeous, wonderful shot.
MissAssister - 10/Jan/10
Great that you've even got the two magnificent binaries of Sirius and Procyon in the shot too.
You can even make out the Orion Nebula as clear as a bell.
Puts most of the photo's in this gallery to shame.
Ben Thorne - 10/Jan/10
Incredibly atmospheric and the contrast between Mountains and sky is haunting.. love the texture also... Ansel Adams would be approve... :o)
HikeandClimb - 11/Jan/10
Just like to add to the kudos. An absolutely beautiful photo. Wish I had the patience to set up as well as you obviously have.

griggj - 12/Jan/10
Love the picture Sean. Is this an HDR processed image?
Rob Bruce - 15/Jan/10
Thanks rbruce. No HDR mate, a straight 1 minute exposure.
Sean Bell - 15/Jan/10
Wonderfully evocative shot Sean - one of the most striking images I have seen in a good while.
I have seen this moonlit snowscape style used a lot in Iceland, but never in Scotland. Great work getting out and shooting it.
whitekite - 15/Jan/10
First picture I've ever commented on - stunning! Did you see how it would look in B&W?
Stone_donkey - 15/Jan/10
Thanks mate.I did convert it to B&W but just felt it looked flat and some extra sparkle was lost when compared to the colour. The picture is part of a project Ive been working on, who knows where it will go but its enjoyable getting out there.
