Very short video of a small avalanche on Ben Nevis, 8 May 2016
I saw two small avalanches on Ben Nevis on the 8 May when I was looking across from Carn Mor Dearg. They both started near the top of Point Five gully and their debris went all the way down to near the bottom of Number 1 gully. The first avalanche was at 11.22am, and there was a smaller one 30 minutes later in the same area. I later saw another avalanche when I was near Carn Dearg summit at 3:20pm. This started in the gullies near the top of the summit plateau, well west of Tower Ridge. I captured this small avalanche on video. The first 6 seconds shows the start of the avalanche near the centre of my photo, the next 12 seconds is my video footage. I’ve already sent the details of these small avalanches to SAIS.

pretty common occurrence this time of year! still extensive snow cover and very strong sun... you definitely want to be out of the gullies by mid morning.
